This is a video review of the Bighorn Classic Model 19ECX (formally known as the 19ECB and the sister safe to the UAB19ES) gun safe from Costco.com. It’s often on sale for $599 (regular price if $799). In my opinion, this safe is just about the best bang for your buck at this price range. Sure there are more secure safes out there with more features, but you’ll be paying significantly more. If this is your price range, take a serious look at this safe. With a few simple modifications this safe will go from great to outstanding! In this video I will discuss how I added power outlets to the Bighorn Classic safe and how I changed the digital securam lock that came with it to a manual dial lock.
I trust the old tumbler locks far more than I trust the digital push button locks. Especially in the case of an EMP. If you are in need of the manual for this safe it can be found here: UPDATE: The only trouble I ran into when replacing the digital lock with the mechanical lock (and I forgot to mention on the video) is that the relocker plate bolt holes wont line up exactly with the new mechanical lock. The relocker plate is bolted to the backside of the lock.
Just take a drill and drill out one new hole in the relocker plate and you will be good to go! It’s a quick fix. We hope this can help ease your mind! Hello, I purchased at auction a brand new TMG Gun safe. Serial# YS-1-I-000008 with an Intellok electronic Model # IT-2100 this unit was still in original packing with bubble wrap and fiberglass straps. I read instruction pamphlet that said use 123456 for initial entry.it opened. I inspected it inside to plan out my storage needs. To make a long story short my wife called downstairs for dinner, I closed the door and decided to change my code after dinner and load my contents. After dinner guess what!!!
The default code would not work. I have tried all I could to reopen with no success. The nearest Locksmith is at least 50 miles away and quoted me far more than I no the safe is worth (16 Gun Safe).
I cannot locate manufacturer anywhere on line or any info on how I can open this horror. Please advise, any help would be appreciated. Hi Christopher, Based on the Serial number and lock type we determined this is not a Cannon Safe model. However our Customer Service team believes that it could potentially be a Stack-On model. Cannon recently acquired Stack-On so our team is reaching out to their Customer Service Department to verify whether or not it is their product. If it is, we will reach out to you via email. Otherwise, I would suggest calling the store you purchased the safe from and asking them.
The store managers or associates typically know simple instructions for the safes they sell.
